Product Overview
The HackRF Pro from Great Scott Gadgets is the highly anticipated next-generation of affordable Software-Defined Radio (SDR). This powerful peripheral is capable of transmitting or receiving radio signals from 100 kHz to 6 GHz. Designed as an open-source hardware platform, it enables the testing and development of modern and next-generation radio technologies. Use it as a versatile USB peripheral or program it for complete stand-alone operation.
A New Standard in SDR
While the HackRF Pro maintains full backward compatibility with its predecessor, it introduces a host of critical new features. It now includes a built-in TCXO crystal oscillator for exceptional timing stability, and the RF performance has been significantly improved with a flatter frequency response and the elimination of the problematic DC spike.
Internally, the HackRF Pro is a major leap forward, upgrading to a power-efficient FPGA (from a CPLD), a modern USB Type-C connector, and installed RF shielding for better signal integrity. It also features more RAM and flash, providing ample room for custom firmware.
This half-duplex transceiver operates at up to 20 million samples per second (Msps) with 8-bit quadrature samples (8-bit I and 8-bit Q). However, it also unlocks advanced sampling modes, including a 16-bit extended-precision mode for high dynamic range at low sample rates and a 4-bit half-precision mode at up to 40 Msps. And for you advanced users out there, the HackRF Pro features a new trigger input and output (via the clock connectors) and the ability to hardware-disable transmit mode.
Seamless Software Compatibility
The HackRF Pro was designed for full backward compatibility with software that works for the HackRF One. Following the same basic architecture, the HackRF Pro will behave like a HackRF One with superior performance right out of the box. It is also fully compatible with GNU Radio, SDR#, and many other applications.
While a migration guide will be published for developers who wish to take advantage of the new capabilities (like 16-bit samples), all your existing software will work immediately.
